Free DNA Tests In Family Courts
Justice Minister Simon Hughes has announced that free DNA tests are being provided in family law cases where there are disputes over the paternity of a child.
The Justice Minister has stated that funding DNA tests “will sort out the problem about who the father is rather than having three days of legal argument."
The scheme is being piloted in Taunton and Bristol and is being run by the Children and Family Court Advisory Support Service otherwise known as CAFCASS and funded by the Ministry of Justice. The scheme has been introduced in a bid to try and speed up paternity disputes in the family Courts.
